Dinokeng Game Reserve is a Big 5 game reserve located just outside Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa. The game reserve opened in 2011 with four of the Big Five. The reserve officially became a Big 5 destination with the introduction of buffalo at the end of 2012. A variety of accommodation is available on the reserve including camping sites, self-catering lodges, tented accommodation and fully-catered accommodation.
Dinokeng Lodge is one of the many lodges you can choose from. It is situatedin a malaria-free area in the north-western part of the reserve. The 3-star lodge offers three forms of accommodation: self-catering chalets, lodge rooms and 32 camping sites.
There are two chalets which sleep four people each, as well as a fully-fitted kitchen and bathroom – allowing you to create your own bush home. There are three lodge rooms, each equipped with a double bed; while the rondavel has seven single beds. There is more than enough space to camp and caravan for those who love an old-school bush experience. However, the campsites have electricity points, ablution blocks and a swimming pool for a touch of modern convenience.
Facilities at the lodge include a conference and function centre, as well as a chapel, ideal for a bush wedding. Guests can also enjoy the great outdoors in the various lapas and bomas or work on their tan at the one of the swimming pools.
The lodge offers sunset cruises, horse-riding, fishing, bush walks and, of course, game drives. Some of the animals guests may spot during safari include elephants, lions, zebras, rhinos, giraffes and various antelope species. Sunset cruises are a great opportunity to see hippos and crocodiles.
For a true bush experience close to the city and a wild weekend getaway book your spot at Dinokeng Lodge and start your safari adventure.
